Apple’s New Requirement for Developers: Email and Phone Information Must Be Visible in the European App Store
According to this regulation, if a developer earns revenue through their apps (such as App Store sales, in-app purchases, or advertising revenue), they are considered a “trader” (a businessperson, taxpayer). In this case, the developer is required to publicly display their email address and phone number in the app’s description section on the App Store.
In short, users will now be able to directly contact the developers behind the apps they use. For individual developers, this new regulation may also require sharing additional information such as a postal address, in addition to an email address and phone number. Developers registered as companies will only be required to share their email addresses and phone numbers.
Apple is giving developers a specific period to comply with these new rules. If developers do not provide the necessary information to the App Store by February 17, 2025, their apps will be removed from the European App Store. This clearly shows that Apple is taking the new regulation seriously.
